About
Project 2 focuses on the development of the flavors, coloring
and visual aesthetic of the edible film material. Experimenting
with different textures and prints, lettering and patterns on the film. Project 2 uses projects 1’s gained knowledge and
elevating the new found material. The various ways in which the material can be elevated are
1. Essence
2. Aroma
3. Flavoring
4. Visual Aesthetic
5. Texture.
Through a process of trial and error, I have developed a few films that contain these elements on their own or even
combined together on one sheet. I have experimented with typography and letter press as well. Keeping in mind that these materials can enhance the flavoring in packaging.
The packaging itself has to visually entice the consumers and
should add to the already existing ingredient(s) contained in
the package. One question that I kept asking myself is, how does this package add to the existing contents contained in
it and how is it elevating it?
Printing patterns, branding, artwork on these sheets are
possible and edible as well when printed on by an ink jet
printer using edible inks. On contacting several bakeries
in Qatar, i have learnt that printing on these sheets can
be performed locally. The production of these materials
is possible using local ingredients and vendors/bakeries.
besides digital printing, stamping, letter press, block
printing are few of the options amongst many.
