The inquiry that inspired me towards my thesis
topic, ADDON was a question that occurred to
me around a year ago How can I reduce waste
while also enhancing my eating experience
during my meals.
I believe that ADDON’s sheets directly address
this question,an issue/problem was presented
to me and I tried to solve it using my knowledge
of design and critical thinking, ADDON’s sheets
water solluble, bio-degradable, edible, non toxic
and eco-friendly, thus bio-degradable.
ADDON’s sheets eliminate the obstacles that
hinder our eating experience and disrupt our
comfort while, before and/or after eating our
meal. Excessive and unnecessary wastage
accumulation due to unnecessary packaging
an disruptive methods leading to unpleasant
eating experiences are the target issues that
ADDON is keen on solving. The process of
creating the sheets manually with the help of
local ingredients in a home kitchen has been
successful. However if given the opportunity
to use certain machinery to help speed up the
process of producing these sheets then would
be smoother. Using the sheets to successfully
produce finished packages is a stage that is still
yet to be tested and experimented with. Testing
the solubility of the sheets as well as the rigidity
and strength towards external contaminants
has been tested successfully.
Overall i believe the aim to produce edible and
bio-degradable sheets, fidsing a solution to my
thesis inquiry has been an accomplishment. I do
believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg and
a lot more can be produced from this spark.
I do not believe that this is the end of ADDON’s
journey. Walking into the Masters program at
VCUQ I am very excited to learn new skill sets
that might possibly create a twist in this project.
I definitely feel that there is a lot of scope for
this project to expand and grow. This is just the
beginning but a begning to a very exciting journey
